Associated Painters Hangar
Associated Painters HangarSpokane International Airport, Spokane WA
Date Completed: September 20th 2014
The SIA AMP Hangar is a 38,000 SF aircraft maintenance and paint facility for Associated Painters Inc. The project is owned by Associated Painters of Washington. Designed by Bernardo Will Architects in conjunction with Garco Construction via Design Build Contract, the building was constructed of conventional steel and erected by Garco Construction iron workers. Additionally, all of the structural concrete, building roofing and wall sheeting were self-performed by Garco. The roof system span is 160’ feet allowing clear tail and wing access during paint operations. Constructed in 7 months, the project demanded skilled trades familiar with high productivity demands. The building was designed to house 737-900 aircraft for specific Boeing contract work. The mechanical systems were designed around singled aircraft operations and tailored around various Boeing specifications. The building utilizes an 8 leaf bypass hangar door (150’x45) to allow planes easy access when shuttled into the building. In addition, two lower roof support spaces serve as office and material handling areas for the tenant, as well as provide immediate access from the hangar floor to the independent paint spray booth and Waste Water Treatment System area.
This project also received the Association of General Contractors (AGC) 2014 Build Northwest Award for a project under $10 Million category.
